In our espadrille factory in Spain, we are proud to have over 100 years of experience in shoe manufacturing. We are a family-owned company that has been dedicated to the industry for four generations, and our legacy dates back to 1924 when Manuel Ruiz García began making the typical hemp-soled espadrille on Condes de Caravaca street.
Despite the difficult times that followed the Spanish Civil War, our family managed to survive by bartering espadrilles for food. In the 1940s, after the war ended, we began expanding throughout Spain, opening new clients from city to city. The durability of hemp was an issue, so we started incorporating new materials such as plastic and rubber into the manufacturing of espadrilles, which also led us to the production of rubber vulcanized shoes.
In the 1970s, 80s, and 90s, our espadrille factory began exporting to the United States, Germany, Italy, France, and other countries, producing over a million pairs per season. During the entry of the new millennium, we imported footwear from China for men and women, but now we have focused on 100% Spanish manufacturing of espadrilles, jute wedges, and house slippers.
Currently, our espadrille factory in Spain is in a new era, with the launch of a new brand focused on online sales and the modernization of processes and designs. However, we still maintain our artisanal character, which has allowed us to stand out in the market for espadrilles.
In our espadrille factory in Spain, each of our products is handmade by expert artisans using high-quality, environmentally friendly materials. While we are committed to innovation and modernization, we also value our roots and take pride in our family tradition.
